Putting on a datejime (juban)

Accessories required:
- Juban (see how to wear a juban)
- Datejime

The datejime used in these instructions is a silk hakata weave. An elastic datejime can be tied the same way, whereas a shorter datejime with velcro is simply wrapped and fastened.

Place the center of the datejime at center front, wind it around once, pulling tightly but not to the point where it's uncomfortable. Tie once in front (half knot).

Back view showing how to cross over the datejime. One end should be pulled up and folded over at an angle so that the two ends remain at the same level.

Continuing in front: while keeping the tension, twist both ends to the opposite sides in order to "lock" the half knot.

Tuck the ends into the datejime. Now you're ready to put on a kimono!
